Our Story

Fifty Years of
Precision Craftsmanship

Details West was founded in 1974 by Bob Wiegner and Leo Munson — two modelers who began scratch-building the parts that simply didn't exist yet. Starting with a white metal casting machine on the patio and an extra bedroom as a warehouse, they built a company on the principle that discriminating modelers deserve discriminating parts.

Now part of the PF&S Railway Supply family of brands, Details West continues its tradition of excellence alongside Precision Scale Co., TJ Model Trains, and Tomar Industries.
